Champion player Maria Sharapova was the first player to launch one of Nike's new designs at the 2011 Australian Open.
Sharapova, who is now a designer in her own right with her own collection of shoes and handbags for Cole Haan, has always had an input into her tennis dresses.
You could see her influence in the elegant pastel-coloured Open Ace dress she modelled in Melbourne in January.
In pale grey with a contrasting pale orange panel at the faux-wrap top and at the open racer back, the dress is designed to support and deliver the maximum range of motion to Sharapova during her matches.
It has double adjustable straps and a built-in bra, Empire waist and inverted pleats at the hem.
The skirt is lined and the dress is Dri-Fit to absorb sweat. It is made from 86% polyester and 14% elastene. The bra is 100% nylon, with the bra mesh 81% nylon, 19% elastene.
The tennis dress is machine washable and sells for around £57.00.
Customers who were surveyed gave the dress the thumbs-up with an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
The only comment running through the surveys was that because it is designed to be tight-fitting the dress comes up small.
One customer commented
"I love the styling of the dress and I would live it in other colours too. This dress runs really small, I have tons of Nike tennis dresses and have always worn a small. However for this dress small was too small for me, so I have ordered a medium."
Maria Sharapova looks stunning in this dress, now her tennis-playing fans can too, but order a size bigger than you normally wear.
