Arnaud Clement of France, who was scheduled to face top seed Roger Federer in the first round of the French Open 2006, withdrew from the clay court tournament on Saturday due to a left thigh injury.
The top two women seeds at the tournament include Amelie Mauresmo (One) and Kim Clijsters (Two). Martina Hingis is likely to appear so is Justine Henin-Hardenne and Venus Williams.
It is believed that Maria Sharapova thinks she will need a miracle to play at her best at the French Open. Maria Sharapova feels she needs a miracle due to the lack of match practice on clay.
Sharapova explained that "I do not think I'm as competitive as I would like to be,"
"If I can play correctly, it will be a miracle. I'm really not at 100 percent,"
"I've spent the past two weeks training and nursing my injury."
Maria Sharapova plays American Mashona Washington in her first tennis match on Sunday.
