The first Grand Slam tournament of 2011 sees the launch of the new outfits the top players will be wearing this season.
Adidas was the first to reveal their new Adilibria designs which will be worn by Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova.
Daniela's dress is royal blue with lime green straps and neck band with an embroidered spider's web in lime green on the front. It features a matching bra top and shorties and has a zip front which ends just below the chest. The long waist elongates the body and it has a double-layered skirt. Daniela's shoes will be the adiZero, which are feather light and stable in design. Ana's dress is the same colour combination but has green trimmings and a racer back.
Sania Mirza and Laura Robson will be wearing the Adilibria skirts and tops and they have a choice of a royal blue skirt with a lime green underskirt, or a white skirt with a lime green underskirt. There are two designs of white top with lime green trim, one with racer back and one without. There is also a royal blue top with a lime green trim.
Caroline Wozniacki will be wearing the new Adidas by Stella McCartney range and she modelled one at McCartney's fashion show in Fitzroy Square as part of London Fashion Week. It was a blue tunic style tennis dress. Dresses are obviously making a comeback on the tennis court this year.
Maria Sharapova will be wearing Nike outfits and she modelled the Ace Dress in light grey and orange. This stylish Dri-Fit lightweight woven dress has a wrap top, one side is grey, one orange and the straps are orange.
It provides a non-restricting fit and looks stylish on court and it has a built-in global top. There is a full zip jacket with a Dry-Fit mesh for lightweight breathable comfort with insets at the side, underarm and back.
Serena Williams may not be coming back to the WTA tour until the spring, due to her foot injury, but she has revealed the dress she designed for the Australian Open. Serena designs her own dresses for Nike and she runs her own fashion line Aneres (Serena backwards).
She is known for her outrageous outfits on court, but she has opted for a more conservative look for 2011, she has called her dress the "Down Under Smash Dress" on a theme inspired by Marilyn Monroe and her classic films.
The white dress is made once again with a Dry-Shaped front and back to absorb moisture from the skin. It features green piping around the waist to outline the V-shape on the back. The skirt has pleats at the front and back and the blue hem adds a hint of colour to the outfit and pays homage to the courts of Australia.
Venus Williams is determined to carry on her personal style through 2011 and she has revealed two see-through glittery tops, one in black and one in shocking pink with diamante sparkles all over them. "The outfit is supposed to be about New York," she said. "It's like bursts of fireworks."
Kim Clijsters will wear Fila and to celebrate their 100th anniversary they have created a series of designs to commemorate Fila Tennis Champions. Clysters will wear a Kelly green skirt and top inspired by Yvonne Goolagong.
The design team sought inspiration from the brand's archives of styles worn by the winning Australian during her 14 Grand Slam title reign in the 1970s and early 80s. She won the Australian Open 4 times.
Each item is distinctly vintage in design. The skirt is stretch woven cotton with a striped elastic waistband and functional front pockets, which are seldom seen these days. The navy and green jacket is Terry with rib knit in the French collar.
