Plays: Right-Handed

Andy Murray was not the only British player doing well in the 2011 Australian Open.

The British No 2 Junior George Morgan has reached the Semi finals of the Junior Boy's Singles. It took him 2 hours 35 minutes to beat Croatian junior Mate Delic to set up the last 4 clash with junior number 1 seed Jiri Vesely after previously defeating Jeson Patrombon of the Philippines.

Morgan also reached the Quarter Final of the boys doubles with Croatian partner Mate Pavic but lost on a match tie-break to Mitchell Krueger and Karue Sell.

Morgan was born on February 7th 1993 in Bolton and he trains at the National Training Centre in Roehampton with coaches Colin Beecher and Arvin Palmer.

In December 2010 he defeated Dutch junior Jannick Lupescu 6-2/6-3 in the final of the Boys Under 18 competition at the famous Dunlop Orange Bowl International Championships in Key Biscayne, Florida. Morgan was presented with a glass bowl full of Florida oranges.

In 2007 Morgan won the Boys Under 14 Title in the same Championships. The only other player to have won the tournament in two different age groups is ATP Tour player Ricardas Berankis who reached the Top 100 in the world.

Andy Murray is also a former Orange Bowl winner taking the Boys Under 12 Title. It would be good for British Tennis if Murray and Morgan could make it a double win, senior and junior, in Melbourne.

George Morgan started playing at the age of 5-years-old and also enjoys playing Table Tennis. He has an ITF ranking of 7 in juniors and an ATP ranking of 930 in the world.
