The Slovakian player who now lives in Monte Carlo Daniela Hantuchova is back in Slovakia training for the 2011 Season.
She said, "In Slovakia there is nothing I miss, here I am satisfied and happy. I love it here, the mountain air is good for me really, there are around me nice and kind-hearted people."
Every day she has her own training programme and if she is not running in the hills, she is training at a 5-star hotel.
She is hoping for a better 2011 than she had in 2010. Although she won $555,619 with 32 wins and 25 losses, she did not win a single title in either singles or doubles and ended up ranked 30 in the world. Her highest singles ranking was in 2003 when she was number 5 in the world.
This is the third consecutive year she has finished outside the top 20 and she knows she needs to raise her game if she is to climb up the rankings again.
Hantuchova is an aggressive all-rounder and plays with effortless power and long, fluid strokes. Her weakness lies in her movement and on court she is mentally fragile. Her serve has always been considered her weapon and she is able to vary speed, placement and spin.
Up until 2009 she was endorsed by Nike Sportswear, but like a lot of the top players she is now sponsored by Adidas. Her link with them sprung from the 2009 U.S.Open.
She wears the new Adidas Adilibria line which is blue with a green piping. For some tournaments she wore the shocking pink Adidas pink women's fall dress. Off court she favours short, skimpy dresses and high-heeled shoes.
She was photographed by Walter Iooss Junior in Cap Cana Juanillo in the Dominican Republic for the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimwear issue. She wore a brief bikini designed by V del Sol.
After she played the season-end tournament in Bali in 2010 she did not go straight home to Monte Carlo. She stopped off in Hungary for two days to pose for a Charity Calendar aimed at helping a hospital for children with HIV in Cambodia called "The House of the Smile." All the proceeds from the calendar will go to the hospital.
She has endorsed 3 brands of rackets in her life. She played with Babolat from being a Junior to late 2003 then she switched to Yonex, Since the Barclays Dubai Championships in 2007 she has played with the Prince Ozone racket.
